Details of Appointment
Fixed-term (ASAP until 30 June 2026 - or until the substantive returns to the position)

Benefits
Salary of $83,011 to $95,547 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Sector Union Wages Agreement
In addition to the salary:

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Provide strength based, family-centred programs to inmates and their families including facilitating parent education groups and the development of individual parent education plans.
- Work cooperatively with prisoners and their families providing information, support, counselling, referral and programs that maintain and strengthen the familial relationship, promote effective parenting skills and facilitate the return of the offender back into the family.
- Work collaboratively within the TPS and with external service providers to promote the role of a prisoner’s family in rehabilitation and reintegration, including developing policies, practices and resources.
- Monitor progress of clients, maintain case notes, records and administrative information. Prepare formal assessments and other reports in accordance with program standards and TPS requirements.
- Liaise with other TPS staff and appropriate external agencies about inmate case management, including scheduling and participating in case conferences, involving the prisoner and his/her family.
- Participate in ongoing professional development including training, clinical supervision and the reviewing and debriefing of program sessions.
- Assist with and participate in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement, risk management, ethical research activities and other strategies consistent with best practice as required.
