About the role

The Ranger helps manage a large area of coastal North East Tasmania from the Chain of Lagoons area in the South to Mount William National Park in the North. You will work with a dynamic, dedicated, and highly competent team that focuses on the management of the numerous reserves that dominate the area.

You will provide on-ground support to the Ranger-in-Charge and assist with the management of the St Helens field centre operations and resources. This is a diverse role; some of the duties will include developing works plans and business plans, project management, managing four direct reports, and undertaking fire suppression activities.

Based at St Helens in the North East corner of Tasmania, you will enjoy working across a diverse scenery from spectacular beaches with coastline environments to the hinterland characterised by dominant mountains, extensive forests, and waterfalls. The area is one of the premier holiday destinations in Tasmania, which includes the renowned ‘Bay of Fires’ and the region offers the opportunity to participate in a diverse array of recreational activities ranging from a world-class mountain bike network, fishing, surfing, bushwalking and several other nature-based activities available.
