Job description:
Support the investigation, inquiry, audit, referral and disclosure functions in accordance with Racing Regulation and Integrity Act 2024, including assessment of complaints, communicate with complainants to obtain information and explain processes and decisions, draft outcome letters, comply with record-keeping requirements.

About the role
TasRIC was established from 1 February 2025 for the purposes of enforcing the Racing Regulation and Integrity Act 2024.
This role will help strengthen the integrity of racing and animal welfare in Tasmania.
- Prepare clear, evidence-based, and justified written documents, including assessments, reasons for decisions, recommendations, and outcome letters.
- Support and assist with the conduct of complex and sensitive investigations and audits on behalf of the Commissioner.
- Support and assist with the triage, assessment, and response to incoming enquiries and complaints.
- Manage complainants’ expectations effectively by providing prompt and timely assistance and being clear about the Commissioner’s complaints jurisdiction and likely outcomes.
About us
The Tasmanian Racing Integrity Commissioner is tasked with:
- Making integrity and animal welfare Standards in racing and monitoring the regulation and administration of racing.
- Gathering information, holding investigations, conducting inquiries, and issuing recommendations to participants in the racing industry to assure racing integrity and animal welfare meet contemporary community expectations.
- Promoting compliance, facilitating engagement and cooperation in relation to racing integrity and animal welfare.
- Providing advice and an annual report to the Minister for Racing that will be tabled in Parliament.
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Pre employment checks
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this role is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Crimes involving dishonesty including illegal betting or gambling.
- Serious traffic offences.
- Serious drug offences.
- Crimes of violence.
