Job description:

Co-ordinate the implementation of the waste levy in accordance with the requirements of the relevant legislation and Government policy and to develop, maintain and review information management systems and procedures in relation to waste and resource recovery data.

About the role

As Section Head - Waste Levy and Data, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for implementing Tasmania’s resource levy and managing statewide resource recovery data systems. Beyond managing data, you will harness insights through analysis and reporting to inform strategic decisions, such as guiding investment priorities, and informing policy. This is a key leadership role that works closely with industry, government and community stakeholders to deliver national best practice and help make Tasmania “a place where nothing is wasted”.

You will:

  • Provide authoritative advice on the waste levy, resource recovery data and regulatory issues.
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of resource recovery data.
  • Analyse and interpret waste and resource recovery data to identify trends, inform policy, and guide strategic investment decisions.
  • Lead and empower the team while managing financial and information resources to deliver impactful outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and information networks to achieve agreed outcomes.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Period of appointment

2 years.

Desirable requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A current motor vehicle driver's licence.
  • Several years relevant post qualification experience.
