Job description:

Provide lifecycle management of Commercial off the Shelf products (COTS) in use within the Agency. Developing strong working relationships with business owners, vendors and support agents to deliver good customer service. Research information technology trends and provide technical advice and support.

Duties

  • Provide customer service to the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) computing environment following ITSM principles.
  • Provide technical expertise in life cycle management of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS), including Data Base Management Systems (DBMS).
  • Build and manage strong successful working relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and external specialists.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to the IT Management group and Senior Management for the development and implementation of the DPFEM strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including technical and build documents, business processes, end user instructions, and business communications.
  • Undertake project management and delivery of ICT projects.
  • Provide mentoring of junior staff in the Enterprise Systems team particularly in relation to quality of service and meeting performance targets.
  • Research and plan initiatives for new and emerging technologies that may provide a benefit to the Agency with a focus on COTS products.
  • May be required to undertake out-of-hours work at peak times and participate in an on-call roster.

Essential Requirements

Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:

  • Sexual offences;
  • Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Highly desirable to have professional IT knowledge gained through satisfactory completion of a relevant course of study at a tertiary institution and appropriate industry certificates. Experience with critical 24x7 applications, support of database environments including Microsoft SQL Server and experience with the implementation and support of Office 365 applications would be an advantage.
  • ITIL certification
  • Current driver’s licence.
