
Duties
Provide strategic direction, high level leadership and management of:
- the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) Community Fire Safety Division to improve the safety of Tasmanians from fires and related emergencies and to achieve organisational strategic objectives, and;
- any TFS strategic projects nominated by the TFS and SES Executive.
Essential Requirements
Appropriate academic or professional qualifications at tertiary level in emergency management, fire management, community disaster preparedness or equivalent experience as assessed by the Commissioner, Fire and Emergency Services, TFS.
Desirable Requirements
Expertise and experience in fire service administration and emergency service operations.
A current driver’s licence.

Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:
- Arson and fire setting;
- Sexual offences;
- Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
- Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
- Making false declarations;
- Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
- Malicious damage and destruction to property
- Trafficking of narcotic substance;
- False alarm raising.
