Job description:

The position contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner by managing the training, education, and development work of the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, including promoting that work to current and potential markets.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • State-wide delivery of training modules, education sessions and information resources relevant to the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Act 1998.
  • Design and deliver innovative and impactful information and education programs (face to face and electronically) for target audiences state-wide across sectors (public, private and community).
  • Provide advice to support organisations in relation to workplace policies and practices related to discrimination, sexual harassment, and other prohibited conduct.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and foster partnerships to enhance the awareness, influence, and impact of the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner.
  • Contribute to the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner’s annual business plan, annual reports and other strategic documents as required.
  • Maintain appropriate records to ensure effective reporting of training delivery and client engagement.
  • Raise awareness about discrimination and prohibited conduct through a range of communications (including social media).
  • Represent the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner in a range of community forums and events.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Commissioner.

Essential Requirements

  • Current drivers licence
  • A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status-Employment)

Desirable Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or commensurate professional experience.

Pre-employment Checks

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

  1. Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
