Job description:

The position supports the achievement of organisational and government initiatives and objectives by providing policy, engagement and program support services to the units within the Justice Support Services (JSS) output. The Policy and Program Support team is a central unit that provides strategic policy and program support to the output group which includes the Office of the Public Guardian, Safe at Home, Working with Vulnerable People, Victims of Crime Assistance and Redress and Victims Support. These units are responsible for the delivery of services, supports and initiatives that support a wide range of the Tasmanian community, including victims of crime, victim-survivors, vulnerable people, represented people, guardians and supporters.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Undertake research and analysis, prepare and provide relevant and authoritative policy and project advice on matters of strategic priority to the Justice Support Services output group, and the Department, including the preparation of project, policy and legislative documentation.
  • Research and prepare high level written reports and correspondence such as external communications, submissions, briefings, correspondence and reports for key stakeholders including relevant Ministers, Heads of Agencies, the Executive Director and the broader output.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with a small team to plan, manage and deliver complex projects, including mapping timelines and identifying project deliverables and dependencies.
  • Engage, build relationships, liaise, and consult with internal and external stakeholders including Departmental and Ministerial staff, and the non-government and private sectors, including representing the Department in State and National forums either independently, or with other staff.
  • Undertake and support consultation, communication, awareness and education programs and engagement with relevant stakeholders across all JSS outputs, other jurisdictions and agencies.
  • Undertake other duties that are within the capacity, qualifications and expectations normally expected of this classification.

Desirable Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.

  1. Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
