Job description:

This position assists the Director of Public Prosecutions in the conduct and management of the business of the Criminal Division by acting as a litigious solicitor and counsel.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

Duties

  • To act as Solicitor in criminal and other litigious matters on behalf of the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and Agencies before the Supreme Court, Magistrates Court and Tribunals.
  • To assist in applications under the Crime (Confiscation of Profits) Act 1993.
  • To provide advice to the Director as requested in relation to criminal matters.
  • To provide policy advice to the Director in relation to legal reform and other matters.

Essential Requirements

Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
