Job description:
Actively manage, develop, research, and curate the RTBG living collections, comprising a wide range of valuable and beautiful plant collections.
About the role
- This critical role is a key component of the Strategic Master Plan for the Botanical Gardens.
- You will use your management skills to lead the horticulture team.
- Cultivate partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the implementation of the RTBG Living Collections Master Plan.
- Play a critical role in the assessment of tree health throughout the gardens maintaining safety standards.
About us
Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG) is a State Government statutory body, governed under the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens Act 2002 and is administered by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. A seven member RTBG Board is appointed by the Minister to manage the RTBG, with a director appointed to manage day-to-day operations within the Gardens.
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Desirable requirements
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- Demonstrated experience working within a botanic garden, or similar organisation.
- A degree relevant to the professional duties to be undertaken, as provided by university / tertiary institution.
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) or the ability to acquire after appointment.
