The position of Project Officer, Kitchen Operational and Business Readiness has been funded to support the Assistant Director of Prisons with the planning, coordination, and delivery of various strategic and operational projects aligned with the future state for the new Risdon Kitchen Project. This includes implementing self-catering and genuine meal choice initiatives for Prisoners.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term for a period of 18 months commencing as soon as possible.
This is a day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Salary of $96,584 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale in the Directorate building. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Assist in the development, implementation, and co-ordination of key strategic and operational projects. This includes providing advice, conducting research on various project issues, analysing best practice, and proposing solutions to relevant Governance bodies with the support of the Assistant Director for Prisons.
- Actively explore and identify initial pilot opportunities for the Tasmania Prison Service to offer self-catering and genuine meal choices for prisoners, and support their implementation.
- Develop documentation for project and business operational readiness, including project management, action, commissioning, and implementation plans as well as processes for risk management, monitoring, and review.
- Prepare submissions and reports for key governance bodies (eg: Tasmania Prison Service Senior Management Team, Southern Corrections Steering Committee and Major Projects Oversight Committee) and support with the facilitation of operational project working groups.
- Work with the Strategic Infrastructure Projects team to help manage, procure, and deliver furniture, fittings, and equipment for the New Risdon Kitchen Project.
- Develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and Output team members.
