Job description:

Deliver scheduled training courses to volunteer members within the Tasmania Fire Service. Assist in the timely review and development of training programs and resources. Ensure that TFS volunteers receive a professional and positive training experience.

A fixed-term employment register is not a vacancy and inclusion on a register does not guarantee any offer of employment will be made.

This Register is for the North West region, separate registers are open for the Northern and Southern regions.

Period of Appointment

Casual - 12 months

Hours

Casual working hours: 

(Nights 1900 - 2200hrs)

(Weekends 0830 - 1700hrs)

Some weekday work hours may be negotiated.

Travel to training sites other than Regional Training Centres may be required.

Deliver scheduled training courses to volunteer members within the Tasmania Fire Service. Assist in the timely review and development of training programs and resources. Ensure that TFS volunteers receive a professional and positive training experience.

Essential Requirements

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:

  • Arson and fire setting;
  • Sexual offences;
  • Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising.

Desirable Requirements

  • Hold a current C class drivers’ licence.
  • Hold a current driver’s licence with ‘Medium Rigid’ endorsement.
  • Relevant experience in an emergency management context.
