Exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join the Department of Health!


The Team

Hospital in the Home – North is an exciting new service for Hospitals North providing hospital level care in patients’ homes through a 22-bed virtual ward.  A multidisciplinary team provides specialist clinical assessment and management of patients, allowing for earlier transition to home from hospital, or complete hospital substitution for suitable patients.

The Role

The Nurse Unit Manager works autonomously under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing – Primary Health North to provide leadership and direction of the Hospital in the Home (HiTH) service.  

In conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team you will lead and manage the coordination of overall patient care and manage the allocated human, material and financial resources of the service. You will also support coordination of care with other services as appropriate for optimal client outcomes.

As NUM you:

  • Have a key role in operationalising the HITH North service and shaping how it works.
  • Have a positive impact on patient outcomes through provision of care in the home.
  • Lead change in the organisation and role-model the Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence (CARE) values.

You will need

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and experience of/in HiTH
  • Demonstrate capability to promote a shared vision and purpose, and positively influence others (internally and externally) to ensure optimal client outcomes and build a culture of success, commitment and active contribution by all staff within the practice area.
  • Demonstrate capability to persevere to achieve goals even in the face of obstacles, cope effectively with disappointments and setbacks and remain calm and in control under pressure.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to six (6) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$126,036 to $132,932 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
