Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

  • The Endoscopy Unit is a specialised, high-functioning component of the Short Stay Suite, which sits within the broader Perioperative Precinct. While the Short Stay Suite encompasses Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA), Holding Bay, Same Day Discharge (SDD), a 19-bed Surgical Ward, and other perioperative services, the Endoscopy Unit operates as a state-of-the-art standalone suite dedicated to delivering advanced gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • This fast-paced, high-turnover unit offers a dynamic clinical environment where nurses work closely with gastroenterologists, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, high-quality care. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of procedures including gastroscopies, colonoscopies, bronchoscopies, and more, supporting both elective and emergency cases.
  • Joining the Endoscopy Unit means becoming part of a team that values clinical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation in minimally invasive care. You will play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes through expert nursing care, patient education, and procedural support.

The Role:

  • The Clinical Nurse Consultant for Endoscopy Unit will provide advanced clinical leadership, direction and change management to facilitate the progression of strategic objectives for the Endoscopy Unit through the development and implementation of associated standards of practice, models of care, and relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Required to provide advanced clinical expertise and leadership in patient safety and quality initiatives/activates and programs within the Endoscopy Unit and offer specialist advice, information, and consultation to staff to meet policy and regulatory requirements related to safety and quality including the Colonoscopy Care Standards. 
  • The Clinical Nurse Consultant will work with a significant degree of autonomy, responsible to the relevant NUM and will be accountable for the standard of nursing care and patient services across the Endoscopy Unit.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 40 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
