
The Team:
Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all cardiothoracic surgery in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of treatment programs for referred patients under the supervision and delegation of an allied health professional, as well as, the evaluation of patient progress, communication of treatment outcomes to the allied health professional staff, and where necessary, documentation in the patient’s medical progress notes.
- Assist allied health professionals and other therapy assistants with preparation for, and treatment of, patients including transportation of patients to and from treatment areas and in the provision of home assessments as required.
- Construct, repair or adapt patient aides as directed by allied health professional staff.
You will need:
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate skills and competencies for an allied health assistant within a hospital or community health setting.
- Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgement and flexibility, and carry out safe working practices whilst working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to establish a rapport with a wide range of people including people with a disability.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary:
$67,193 to $72,126 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Certificate IV in Health Service Assistance (Allied Health Assistance) or equivalent qualification
- Tertiary student of a relevant and approved allied health course of study at a recognised tertiary institution
- Current Driver’s Licence
