Job description:

In this role, you’ll be central to ensuring patients experience safe, well‑coordinated transitions from inpatient care back into the community. You’ll work closely with individuals, their families and carers, and the treating team to deliver recovery‑focused discharge planning, strengthen continuity of care, and promote meaningful community participation. You’ll also collaborate actively with a multidisciplinary team, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and help shape integrated models of care across Adult Mental Health Services North.

The Team: Adult Mental Health Services North is a values-driven, multidisciplinary service committed to creating a positive, psychologically safe, and supportive team culture. We aim to be a service where people feel safe to speak up, supported to grow, and encouraged to bring curiosity, reflection and compassion into their work. Our practice is grounded in trauma-informed, person-centred and recovery-oriented principles — not only in how we work with consumers, but in how we work with each other.

The team is currently undergoing positive change as part of the Tasmanian Statewide Mental Health Reform program. This is an exciting time to join a service that is actively reflecting on practice, strengthening models of care, and shaping how contemporary mental health services are delivered across Tasmania. We value collaboration, shared learning, and open dialogue, and we are looking for clinicians who want to contribute to a healthy, respectful and evolving team culture.

The Role: As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality mental health services, the Occupational Therapist will provide contemporary, recovery-oriented care across inpatient and community settings. The role includes undertaking specialist occupational therapy assessments, contributing to multidisciplinary formulation and care planning, and delivering evidence-informed interventions that support functional recovery, psychosocial rehabilitation, and meaningful engagement in daily life.

You will play a key role in supporting safe, well-planned transitions from inpatient care back into the community, working closely with consumers, families, carers and the treating team to support recovery-oriented discharge planning, continuity of care, and community participation. The role also involves active collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, contributing to service improvement initiatives, and supporting integrated models of care across Adult Mental Health Services North.

Details of appointment: Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
