Job description:

In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, organising, directing and coordination of the strategic and daily operation of the Theatre Support Officers (TSO) and Support Services Officers (SSO).

The Team:

The Theatre Support Officer (TSO) team plays a critical role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Operating Theatre Suite at the Royal Hobart Hospital. TSOs provide essential non-clinical support to perioperative services, ensuring theatres are prepared, equipment is available and patients are safely transported throughout the perioperative journey.

The Role:

The Perioperative Support Staff Office Manager is responsible for the planning, organising, directing and coordination of the strategic and daily operation of the Theatre Support Officers (TSO) and Support Services Officers (SSO). This includes:

  • Undertaking the management of the Perioperative Services Support Staff (Theatre Support Officers and Support Services Officers) including responsibility for the allocation and monitoring the use of human, financial, physical and material resources.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the support staff, ensuring that service delivery standards, service objectives and strategies are understood, implemented and maintained to achieve service delivery outcomes.
  • Contributing to the ongoing review and evaluation of support staff services and the development of operational policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of support services, in consultation with the Nursing Director - Surgical and Perioperative Services.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with Perioperative Unit Managers to ensure the provision of effective, high-quality services to patients.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of a Theatre Support Officer and Support Services Officer service within a perioperative/hospital setting together with sound knowledge and understanding of operational policies, work practices, equipment and procedures relating to the delivery of a support service.
  • Demonstrated advanced rostering skills and experience in applying rostering practices and quality improvement principles including a working knowledge of electronic health information systems such as ProAct.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Infection Control and Work Health & Safety principles and safe manual handling practices.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
