Job description:

Royal Hobart Hospital Medical Imaging provides statewide diagnostic and interventional imaging services

The Team:

The Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) at Royal Hobart Hospital is a critical tertiary service providing comprehensive diagnostic and interventional imaging to support acute, sub-acute, outpatient, and statewide referral services across Tasmania. The department delivers a full suite of imaging modalities, including general radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and intra-operative imaging, operating across extended hours to meet emergency, inpatient, and elective demand. DMI plays a pivotal role in enabling timely diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical decision-making for high-acuity services such as Emergency, Intensive Care, Surgery, Oncology, Stroke, and Trauma. The department’s focus is on delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centred imaging services while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, supporting workforce capability, optimising workflows, and responding to increasing demand, technological advancement, and system-wide reform priorities.

The Role:

Within a tertiary hospital setting and in accordance with the Agency’s policies, procedures and legal requirements support the Senior Management Team by providing day to day operational management, leadership and direction to Imaging Services, within the Department of Medical Imaging at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and RHH off-site facilities.

You will need to:

  • Under broad direction from the Director, Medical Imaging Services and the Stream Directors CCCS&I provide day to day financial, human and physical resource management and oversee all operational and non-clinical aspects of the service.
  • In collaboration with the Director Medical Imaging lead budget preparation, negotiation, planning, monitoring and control including maximisation of revenue for the cost-effective operation of, and efficient resource allocation within Medical Imaging Services.
  • Participate in the determination of Departmental priorities, including the development of policy affecting the delivery of Medical Imaging services, quality initiatives and strategic and business plans.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
