Job description:

The Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit at the RHH is seeking an Emergency Department Statistician, to work in partnership with relevant ED clinical leaders and/or manager to assist with the design, methodology, analysis and write up of health care projects including quality improvement, observational research and data registry enquiries.

The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all cardiothoracic surgery in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

The Emergency Department statistician is an experienced statistician who, within the defined area of practice:

Works in partnership with relevant ED clinical leaders and/or manager to assist with the design, methodology, analysis and write up of health care projects including quality improvement, observational research and data registry enquiries.

Ensures the efficient and effective handling of data based on evidence-based principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

Assist with education, quality initiatives, organisational protocol development of procedures and guidelines.

You will need to:

  • Enhance the reporting functions by developing tools and processes statistical analysis of routine reports, ad hoc queries and analysis of the data tasks to support the ED performance reporting activities at national, state, agency and Divisional levels
  • Participate in database design, statistical analysis, verbal and written presentation of results and liaison with relevant staff across the ED
  • Assist in the development of operational frameworks, procedures, and system improvements, ensuring compliance with broader ED data driven objectives and outcomes

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 September 2026. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $107,899 to $122,292 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
