Job description:

Is to develop, coordinate and promote basic physician training, underpinned by a supportive training culture, at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH). Actively engage and collaborate with clinicians working across primary care, district hospitals and community general practice, and DPEs at other tertiary sites and with the RACP.

The Launceston General Hospital is a 330 plus bed teaching hospital seeking a Director of Physician Education.

The Role:

The Director of Physician Education provides leadership, oversight and management of the basic physician training program within Hospitals North settings.

The role is a shared co-Director role.

To develop, co ordinate and promote basic physician training underpinning by a supportive training culture at the Launceston General Hospital.

Actively engage and collaborate with clinicians  working across primary care district hospitals and community general practice and DPE's at other tertiary sites and with the RACP.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working up to 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you are able to join our team until 4 February 2029.

Salary

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging 

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available

  • Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
  • Motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum, pro rata 
  • Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). 
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $$16,974 per annum, pro rata 
  • Travel and relocation assistance support 
  • Professional development and accelerated pathways.
  • A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
  • Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.
  • other allowances as per award.

Eligibility:

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as

  • Holds specialist registration with the Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP)

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Qualifications in clinical teaching or relevant tertiary qualifications
