
The Team:
The Dental Sterilisation Technician works within a supportive and diverse team in the Southern region of Oral Health Services Tasmania, comprising approximately 160 staff members. The team includes dental professionals, technicians, dental assistants, customer service officers, and administrative staff, representing a blend of long‑term locals and newcomers to Tasmania. Together, they share a strong commitment to improving community oral health outcomes through high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

The Role:
As a member of the oral health care team the Dental Sterilisation Technician decontaminates, packages and sterilises dental instruments and equipment appropriate to the dental environment and general clinical areas.
The Dental Sterilisation Technician maintains clean and hygienic surroundings to facilitate the control of infection in the central sterilising bay and associated sterile instrument storage area.
You will need to:
- Perform effective reprocessing of dental instruments and equipment in accordance with current Oral Health Services Tasmania Infection Control policies and guidelines and relevant Australian Standards.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures in the operation of pre-vacuum steam sterilisers and equipment in use within the central sterilising bay.
- Ensure all required sterilisation data is captured and completed in accordance with Oral Health Services Tasmania protocols.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, casual, day worker position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility:
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Satisfactory completion of Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting and/or qualifications in Sterilising Technology.
