
The Team:
The Team at the Department of Health Tasmania works collaboratively to support safe, effective, and person‑centred nutrition care across health services. As a Dietetic Assistant, the role contributes to the delivery of nutrition services by supporting dietitians, assisting with patient meal management, monitoring dietary requirements, and ensuring compliance with food safety and clinical standards. The team values collaboration, clear communication, and a patient‑focused approach, working closely with multidisciplinary staff to improve health outcomes and support quality care for Tasmanian communities.
The Role:
- Assist in the efficient and optimal functioning of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.
- Assist in the provision of safe, efficient and timely nutrition care and support for patients under the direction and supervision of a dietitian.
You will need to:
- Maintain clear documentation in accordance with departmental/organisational policy.
- Contribute to clinical workflow through maintenance of patient data within departmental databases.
- Assist in the management and transport of nutrition related equipment and peripherals within the hospital under the direction of a Dietitian.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance specialising in Nutrition and Dietetics and/or equivalent experience
- Current Driver’s Licence
