Job description:

The Safety & Security Training Coordinator, positioned within the Safety, Security & Quality Unit – Chief Risk Office, will coordinate, operationalise, deliver, evaluate and advocate for the continuous improvement of training programs relating to safety, security operations, and occupational violence prevention

The Team:

The Safety & Security Quality Unit (SSQU) within the Chief Risk Office has been tasked with implementing the identified workforce support actions resulting from the DoH Safety and Security 10 Point Action Plan.  The Action Plan focuses on uplifting supports across the department focused on establishing and embedding a series of risk mitigation practices, the upskilling of staff and bolstering the department's ability to respond to and manage the risk of violence and aggression risk exposure, improve security management responses, and centralise training protocols.

The Role:

The Safety & Security Training Coordinator, positioned within the Safety, Security & Quality Unit – Chief Risk Office, will coordinate, operationalise, deliver, evaluate and advocate for the continuous improvement of training programs relating to safety, security operations, and occupational violence prevention. Working in close partnership with regional services and Safety and Security teams, the role will coordinate departmental trainers, act as training lead, and ensure staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to operate safely across diverse environments. This position is pivotal in promoting a culture of preparedness, professional education, and respectful engagement aligned with best practice standards.

You will:

  • Coordinate, deliver, and evaluate safety, security, and occupational violence prevention training, ensuring programs align with legislation, organisational standards, and best practice. Lead induction, refresher, and specialist learning using trauma‑informed, scenario‑based and simulation methodologies, while mentoring trainers to embed OV prevention strategies into content.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders—including regional teams, policy, risk, and compliance—to identify emerging risks and training needs, co‑designing responsive, context‑specific solutions. Maintain accurate and auditable training records and ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, emergency management, and safety requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a culture of safety, respect, and preparedness by monitoring training effectiveness through evaluation and data, contributing to operational readiness, and supporting the psychological and physical wellbeing of staff through professional conduct and engagement.

Details of appointment:

 Multiple Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $107,899 to $122,292 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) or willingness to obtain
  • Current Drivers Licence
