
The Team:
The Administrative Officer works within a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment that delivers essential administrative support across Tasmania’s public health system. Depending on placement, Administrative Officers commonly support clinical, governance, or service‑delivery units—such as Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), Clinical Governance Units, or Executive and operational teams—ensuring smooth daily operations, high‑quality communication flow, and consistent administrative processes across the organisation.
Teams within the Department of Health Tasmania are typically diverse, client‑focused, and aligned with statewide health priorities, operating under structures that emphasise quality, safety, and efficient service coordination. These teams support clinical staff, managers, and service leaders through tasks such as records management, reception services, correspondence handling, data entry, and support for governance and accreditation activities. Their work contributes directly to the effective delivery of health services across hospitals, mental health, aged care, and community health settings statewide.
The Role:
- The Administrative Officer provides a high standard of customer focused clerical, administration and reception services to the Cardiology Department.
You will need to:
- Manage the coordination of the admission/booking process for Cardiology Department and identify issues, trends and problems which may have impact on theatre bookings.
- Provide and maintain efficient Cardiology billing, client related and administrative services including, quality face-to-face and telephone reception support, booking patient appointments, registering patient referrals, coordinating Cardiology theatre bookings and wait lists and providing training to other members of staff as required.
- Undertake a diverse range of administrative and secretarial support for Cardiology Department.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 73 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
