Exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse - Clinical Coach to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

Spencer Mental Health Clinic is an acute inpatient mental health service located in the North-West Regional Hospital at Burnie. We provide acute inpatient treatment for individuals who require 24-hour specialist mental health care in a safe and supportive environment.  Our team includes medical officers, nursing staff, allied health, health care assistants, lived experience workers and administration staff.  

Spencer Clinic has 19 acute inpatient beds, including a 3 bed High Care Unit.

The hospital is located on the picturesque North-West Tasmanian coastline and is a 5 minute commute from the Burnie CBD.

Burnie is the gateway to some of Tasmania’s most beautiful natural places and you are never far away from spectacular coastline vistas and World Heritage Wilderness.  Tasmania offers an affordable lifestyle with fantastic modern and historic accommodation and properties in idyllic locations. You are close to everything and the drive home from work is guaranteed to be brief contributing to an improved work life balance.

You will need:

  1. Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures, and evidence-based practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a relevant clinical setting and in line with legal requirements, the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), Registered Nurse Standards for Practice and other relevant professional standards.
  2. Demonstrated ability to use clinical coaching principles to support professional and clinical development of novice nurses.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership to support the nursing management team, and to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Details of appointment:

Multiple Permanent, full time or part time shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $102,439 - $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience in the relevant practice setting.

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications appropriate to the clinical area.

  • Membership with the relevant professional organisation (e.g.: Australian College of Nursing, Australian College of Midwives, ACORN, ACCCN).
