Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

Spencer Clinic at Northwest Regional Hospital provides specialist mental health services in Northwest Tasmania. We deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to support individuals and families in their recovery journey. Our team is multidisciplinary, collaborative, and committed to excellence in mental health nursing practice.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Mental Health to join our team. This senior nursing role provides clinical leadership, advanced practice expertise, and guidance to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advanced clinical assessment, intervention, and consultation for complex mental health presentations

  • Leading and mentoring nursing staff to build capability and confidence in mental health care

  • Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and allied health professionals

  • Driving quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice within the clinic

  • Contributing to service development and innovation in mental health care delivery

You will need 

  1. Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary adult inpatient mental health team with the ability to assist the NUM/ADON in relation to the effective management of human and physical resources.
  2. Demonstrated specialist level knowledge and advanced practice in relation to the field of acute inpatient psychiatry, including a proven ability to provide a range of assessments and specialist treatments and interventions.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to effectively undertake a consultation/leadership role within a multidisciplinary adult inpatient setting, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 16 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification

  • Current Driver’s Licence
