Job description:

Permanent Role - The Alcohol and Drug Services are seeking an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the North West team.

The Team:

We provide Alcohol and Drug treatment options and support services to clients including referral pathways. We are a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of Allied Health, Nursing and Medical Offices forming part of the Statewide Mental Health Service, Alcohol and Drug unit.

We are located in Ulverstone on the central coast of Northwest Tasmania.

The Role:

Our services work closely with both the public and private sectors to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Registered Nurse contributes to delivering high-quality alcohol and other drug treatment service in accordance with relevant Government Legislation and Regulations, Primary Health Care Principles, Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) policies, procedures and protocols and relevant professional competencies.

We provide a range of services including:

  • Comprehensive clinical assessments, treatment and case management services to clients (and their families/carers)
  • Pharmacotherapy treatment and harm minimisation advice as part of the MDT process, including travel to outreach centres and in inpatient facilities.

You will need:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary evidence-based practice used in the treatment and prevention of alcohol and other drug dependence, including alcohol and other drug assessment, the harm minimisation framework, interventions and prevention activities.
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to undertake, comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions with complex AOD issues.
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop, monitor and implement quality assurance and improvement activities and/or research.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Location: Ulverstone, Tasmania

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Completed or working towards post graduate qualifications in AOD

  • Current Driver’s Licence
