Job description:

As part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

The Role:

As part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies. 

You will need:

  • Extensive experience within Dual Disability, particularly regarding the psychiatry of intellectual disability and adult psychiatry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Guardianship and Administration Act 1995.
  • Experience of liaising with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS); families and consumers.    
  • Ability to exercise a high level of individual autonomy (noting the position is accountable to the relevant Director and the relevant Team Leader within the specified unit for all aspects of performance). 
  • Act as an approved Medical Practitioner under the Mental Health Act. 
  • Awareness of all policies, procedures and legislation affecting the duties of this position. This will include statements of consumer rights and responsibilities adopted by this service, and a general awareness of the provisions of legislation, which has an overarching effect on the service, including in the areas of Work, Health and Safety (WH&S), Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:

CMOs 

Career Medical Officers Levels 1 - 7

$128,750 - $183,340 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Please note that access to the Senior Career Medical Officer salary range $187,460 - $206,000 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Career Medical Officer Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
