Job description:

Be a Clinical Coach within the Intensive Care Unit supporting and collaborating with less experienced healthcare team members through expert coaching and assessment.

The Team:

The Intensive Care Unit within the LGH is a 11 bed dynamic medical/surgical unit that prides itself on delivering excellence in health care and improving outcomes for our workforce and the Tasmanian community.

  • We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our clients, utilising a range of treatment options such as mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, advanced haemodynamic monitoring, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

The role the Clinical Coach: 

  • Supports and works collaboratively with less experienced members of the healthcare team and participates in orientation, precepting, clinical teaching, overseeing learning experiences, and goal setting for nursing and midwifery novices.
  • Is responsible for the clinical supervision, coaching and assessment of nursing and midwifery novices in the clinical environment.  The position may work across a range of health care settings supervising, assessing and guiding cohorts of novices in achieving clinical practice competence and specified clinical and service operational goals in line with the broader education and professional development service/unit level plan.
  • Works collaboratively with the education and clinical teams.
  • Contributes to positive consumer outcomes by building confidence of novice clinicians via clinical coaching.
  • Guides safe, quality and evidence-based clinical care through the support, coaching and supervision of learners in direct patient care.
  • Provides feedback to learners on goals and standards of practice against organisational and best practice determined performance criterion.
  • Supports the Nurse or Midwife Unit Manager in achieving learning and development goals for the clinical area/service.

Details of appointments:

Multiple permanent full and part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $99,455 to $105,636 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience in the relevant practice setting.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications appropriate to the clinical area.
  • Membership with the relevant professional organisation (e.g.: Australian College of Nursing, Australian College of Midwives, ACORN, ACCCN).
