Job description:

Seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to provide safe, specialised and family centred inpatient care, and supporting for infants, children and young persons across the North of Tasmania.

The Team:

The Paediatric ward at the Launceston General Hospital plays a vital role within the Department of Health by providing safe, specialised and family centred inpatient care, and supporting for infants, children and young persons across the North of Tasmania.  As part of the Tasmanian Health service, the Wombat Ward supports the Emergency and Outpatients services closely working together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, workforce and the Tasmanian community. 

 

The Role:

As Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to provide clinical and operational leadership across Paediatric inpatient services at the Launceston General Hospital.

 

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinating day-to-day patient care activities and supporting patient flow.

Providing high-level clinical knowledge and acting as a resource and role model for staff.

Supporting the NUM in managing staffing, resources, and service delivery.

Promoting a collaborative, professional team environment and a positive workplace culture.

Assisting with the development and review of protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement strategies.

Identifying and mitigating clinical risks and supporting safety and compliance initiatives.

 

You will need:

Clinical Leadership:

Strong Clinical expertise in Paediatrics, with the ability to provide clinical leadership and work with minimal supervision.  Commitment to Paediatric and family-centred values and needs.

Operational Insight:

Able to coordinate bed management, staffing, patient flow, discharge planning, and resource management within a contemporary healthcare framework.  Ability to support staff with complex clinical decision-making and safe patient flow.

Teamwork & Communication:

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, with young people, families and the multidisciplinary teams.

Quality & Risk Awareness:

Strong understanding of clinical risk, safety and quality systems, and the ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 16 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 19 September 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Registration to Work with Children Registration
