Job description:

The Social Work team is looking for a highly motivated Senior Social Worker - Multicultural Health to ensure the delivery of high quality culturally safe Social Work practices at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The Team:

This role is part of the Social Work Service at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The Social Work team works closely with a broad multidisciplinary team across impatient and outpatient services providing healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for Tasmanians. Social Work services team is committed to providing staff with professional development, supervision and peer support activities to ensure the overall wellbeing of staff.

The Role:

The Multicultural Social Worker will ensure the delivery of high quality culturally safe Social Work practices for inpatients and outpatients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as authorised, in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

You will need to:

  • Experience working with people from migrant and refugee backgrounds and how it impacts on their health outcomes.
  • High level knowledge, skills and experience in creating culturally care plans that respects the patient’s values, traditions and needs of their culture whilst empowering patients to identify their own cultural health needs
  • Ability to coordinate, monitor, evaluate and educate the health service contributing to service development in this area.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
