Job description:

We are seeking a Registered Midwife who will strengthen health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women, their families and other health professionals.

The Maternity Unit at LGH

  • LGH is the major referral hospital for Northern Tasmania.
  • Our team supports the birth of approximately 1,600 babies each year.
  • Facilities include:
    • 6-bed Labour Ward
    • 30-bed Maternity Unit
    • 9-bed Special Care Nursery
  • Work across diverse models of care: antenatal, birth, postnatal (including community-based care), Midwifery Group Practice, and Team Midwifery.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 48 hours per fortnight, commencing 8 November 2025.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria .

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife
  • Current Working with Children Registration
