
The Team:
The Surgical and Endoscopy Access (SEA) Unit is a dedicated team of nurses and booking clerks who coordinate the journey of patients on the Elective Surgery and Endoscopy Waiting Lists at the Royal Hobart Hospital. From GP referral and outpatient appointments through to surgery and treatment, the team works closely with patients, their families, community providers, surgical teams and allied health to ensure safe, timely and patient-centred care.
The Role:
The Nurse Manager provides leadership and direction across the SEA Unit, ensuring effective coordination of elective surgery and endoscopy access, including the Anaesthetic Pre-Admission Clinic. The Nurse Manager supports staff, oversees patient flow and surgical bookings, and embeds quality improvement and knowledge development into daily practice. This role provides an opportunity to shape services that promote consistent, sustainable and timely care for patients across Tasmania.
You will need:
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills, and experience in relation to elective surgery and endoscopy waiting list management, pre-operative assessment and elective admission processes.
- Demonstrate capability to make rational and sound decisions based on a consideration of the facts and alternatives available make quick decisions when required and will commit to definite courses of actions.
- Demonstrated advanced communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and an ability to liaise on complex issues

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $122,365 to $129,060 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
