Tasmania is part of a nationwide program of work that is delivering innovations in the treatment of eating disorders. The Tasmania Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) is a new service, that delivers integrated specialist care for adults with an eating disorder. This includes Community-Based Intensive Treatment (CBIT) Programs in the North, North West and South and a statewide and Residential Recovery Program (RRP).

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant- Clinical Lead - TEDS - (528724L1). The position will also be advertised for an Allied Health Professional (528724L1d) and the position will be filled on a merit base.

The Tasmania Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) is a new service, that delivers integrated specialist care for adults with an eating disorder. This includes Community-Based Intensive Treatment (CBIT) Programs in the North, North West and South and a statewide and Residential Recovery Program (RRP).

We are looking for clinicians with an interest in eating disorders (no prior experience in eating disorders required) who are innovators and have a passion for delivering quality care.

The Role:

The Clinical Lead will provide clinical leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of the TEDS South, enabling the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care. This includes the provision of: 

  • Leadership and direction in the development and management of a multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist community intensive based treatment for adults with an eating disorder.
  • Optimal clinical processes and individual client outcomes.
  • Effective management of human and physical resources.
  • Leadership, direction and change management to facilitate TEDS service development initiatives statewide and at a regional level, including the development and implementation of the model of care and relevant SMHS and service policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Enhanced consumer and carer participation at all levels of the service, including quality, safety and improvement activities and service development co-design initiatives. 
  • Facilitate the implementation of the current Mental Health Service Strategic Plan and develop and maintain effective collaborative working arrangements and relationships with key stakeholders.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working up to 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 4 August 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria 

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered
    Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental
    health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of
    nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program
    that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory
    authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
  • Current Working with Children Registration.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • A minimum of 3 years current post graduate experience in mental health or relevant field.
  • Experience and/or interest in working with people experiencing eating disorders or other mental health conditions.
  • Experience in clinical and professional supervision Eating Disorder Credentialled practitioner
  • Current Driver’s License

  • Participate in the TEDS Community Based Intensive Treatment and Residential Recovery Program which delivers services for adults (16 year and older) with an eating disorder and their family and carers.
