Job description:

System Managment and Reform (SMR) is the central policy, strategy, and planning group for the Department of Health.

The Team:

System Managment and Reform (SMR) is the central policy, strategy, and planning group for the Department of Health. Health Planning is a unit within SMR, that engages and works collaboratively across the whole of the Tasmanian health system to analyse and understand community health needs and develop strategies and plans to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes in priority areas.

The Role:

The primary focus of this role is to develop and implement methodologies and tools to enable reliable demand analysis and forecasting to inform health service planning. This will include: 

  • Developing and maintaining data models, reports, and visualisations to support health planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to understand data needs and ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Analysing complex health data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to inform policy development.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented person to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving healthcare systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.

You will need:

  • Extensive specialist knowledge and experience in developing and applying contemporary business intelligence and analytical strategies, frameworks and methodologies to inform health service configuration and investment decisions.
  • High level conceptual, research and analytical skills to effectively identify relevant issues, make sound judgements, and provide recommendations to support Agency strategies and directions.
  • High level interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the specific ability to effectively engage and collaborate with staff at all levels to understand and document business requirements, identify and solve problems, including group facilitation skills. .

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
