This selection process may also be used to fill future full-time or part-time vacancies over the next 12 months.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022, including:
➕ $216,300 – $310,389 per annum
➕ 12% Superannuation
➕ Access to Salary Packaging
Salary: The remuneration package for this position, based on classification as a Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starts at $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania).
Note: Access to the Senior Specialist salary range ($300,216 – $310,389) is subject to meeting the eligibility criteria set out in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum
- Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees
- Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
- Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
- Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

1. Experience in Cytopathology procedures
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- Crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
