Period of employment / Hours:

Duties:
Primary Purpose / Focus :
As a member of the Community Infrastructure Unit’s Property Maintenance team, the Senior Finance Officer plays a critical role in the implementation and management of a new maintenance model within Homes Tasmania’s property maintenance team. This model involves engaging a Panel of trade organisations supported by an in-house maintenance operative team. The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for setting up and maintaining systems for processing and reconciling financial transactions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This includes:
- Ensuring Panel contractor records are created on HMS and Finance One
- Reconciliation of monthly supplier accounts
- Reconciliation and processing of credit card statements
- Raising journals as appropriate against other project codes
- Ensuring appropriate financial delegation is applied to financial transactions
- Preparation of monthly model financial statements
- Raising credits against overpayments
- Financial reporting and forecasting
- Provide support to the Data and Reporting Analyst
Skills and experience :
Selection criteria includes:
- Sound knowledge of accounting practices, with advanced skills and experience in operating and managing computerised financial systems, together with expertise in financial record-keeping and accounting, ensuring accurate maintenance of financial records and adherence to accounting standards.
- Proven experience in developing, documenting, and implementing comprehensive procedural and operational systems, ensuring clarity and compliance with best practices for financial and data management processes.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide advice and support to staff at all levels, including interaction with contractors, suppliers and liaison with business support staff.
