
The Team:
The Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) is a statewide service providing care to clients accessing treatment for Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs in Tasmania. The ADS operates within a Multidisciplinary Team framework. All of our services work closely together to deliver excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
This role is situated in the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit (IPWU) at St John's Park in New Town, which provides medically supervised detox from alcohol and other drugs for people seeking to address their substance use. We are a friendly, supportive and welcoming team.
The Role:
The ANUM will work collaboratively and effectively with the NUM and will promote a patient focused and trauma informed model of care, coordinate the flow of patient/client care delivery and assist the NUM in providing effective leadership within the IPWU.
The ANUM provides clinical and administrative management on a shift-by-shift basis to ensure business continuity of the IPWU. This may include performance, financial, rostering, and staffing management as delegated by the NUM.
You will need
- Demonstrated clinical experience in the Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs (ATOD) sector, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within a contemporary healthcare framework.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
