
The Team:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.
The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for >75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%.
The RHH Emergency Department has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours). The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical patient presentations.
The Role:
Under the broad direction of the Nurse Unit Manager - Emergency Department (NUM), take a lead role in the development and promotion of efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice clinical principles. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will provide leadership, direction and change management to facilitate the progression of the strategic objectives for the Emergency Department (ED) through the development and implementation of associated models of care, relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.

You will need:
- Extensive experience as a Registered Nurse with demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise in emergency care, and the ability to apply best practice principles in the delivery and coordination of clinical practice within the emergency setting.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, guide and motivate a multidisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement, action research and clinical risk management strategies to positively impact on clinical service delivery.
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary change management frameworks and the ability to provide leadership and apply strategies to achieve practice change in the clinical setting.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period up to two (2) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
