Job description:

The Director - Programming and Delivery is a specialist senior management role whose primary objectives and responsibilities are to provide strategic leadership, direction and oversight of the delivery of the Department of Health’s (DoH) capital works program.

The Department of Health is seeking a specialist senior management leader to step into the critical role of Director Programming and Delivery within the Infrastructure Branch. This executive position offers the opportunity to provide strategic leadership, direction and oversight of the delivery of the Department of Health’s (DoH) capital works program.

The Role

The Director Programming and Delivery leads the planning, design and delivery of projects within the Department’s capital program. In achieving this, it provides leadership to the Capital Program team to ensure projects are rigorously planned, managed and delivered; on time, within budget, and aligned to Government priorities and strategic plans. In addition, the role provides expert and informed advice on project management methodologies and best-practice capital infrastructure delivery. The position provides a whole-of-group work program to ensure effective application of resources and timely project delivery.

This role provides definitive executive-level specialist strategic advice to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including the Minister for Health, the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries and other senior managers in DoH (including Hospitals South, North and North West) regarding the development and delivery of the capital program and is required to develop highly effective and productive relationships and manage networks with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across the DoH and other Government agencies and Offices, Local Planning Authorities and the building and construction industry.

Details of Appointment

The position is offered as a 5-year contract, with an attractive remuneration package, including a salary range between $183,884 to $202,163 per annum plus 12% superannuation

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Extensive experience in the delivery of capital programs

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Project Management
  •  Extensive experience in the management of capital programs in a public sector environment
