Job description:

The Staff Specialist will provide specialist clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients attending the Sexual Health Service including outreach (Devonport Clinic23) and advice to clinicians.

Clinic 34 - Sexual Health Services is seeking interest from a Staff Specialist - Sexual Health for a 12-month fixed-term position for their Launceston Clinic (Clinic34) 34 Howick Street Launceston commencing as soon as possible. The Staff Specialist will provide specialist clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients attending the Sexual Health Service including outreach (Devonport Clinic23) and advice to clinicians.

The Team:

The Sexual Health Services Tasmania is a state-wide service with clinics in Hobart, Launceston, and an outreach clinic in Devonport. The service is staffed by consultant sexual health physicians, sexual health registrar, nurse practitioner, nurses, a clinical psychologist and administrative officers. The Sexual Health Services provide people with the opportunity to enhance their sexual health and well-being with a broad scope of practice. We also provide guidance to clinicians across the state for all matters pertaining sexual health.  

The Role:

The clinical services delivered by our service are achieved by providing sexual health checks, STI diagnosis and treatment, PrEP, as well as the care and management of HIV and treatment and diagnosis and cure of Hepatitis C.
We provide a multidisciplinary transgender service including information, support and medical assistance and guidance.
Our service also provides assessment and treatment of various genital dermatology conditions, as well as treatment and management of discomfort and pain and sexual dysfunction.

You will need

Essential Requirements

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty Sexual health physician with AChSHM, RACP

Desirable Requirements

  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Holds a qualification recognised as a specialist medical qualification in accordance with the provisions of the Commonwealth/State Agreement on Mutual Recognition which is relevant to his/her appointment.
  • Additional skills in the areas of Sexual Assault, Public Health, Men’s or Women’s Health would be desirable.
  • Experience as a Sexual Health Physician.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker, working up to 68.4 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible for a period of up to 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging 

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
