
The Team:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest tertiary referral centre, and our pharmacy team provide comprehensive services across diverse areas, including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, virtual care and high-acuity settings. Our pharmacy team collaborate closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams to deliver exceptional, patient-centred, medicine-related care. The Role:
- Operate independently in the provision of complex pharmacy activities to patients of the Tasmanian Health Service by demonstrating advanced knowledge, skills and experience relevant to pharmacy practice and provision of pharmaceutical information and providing professional advice and consultancy services to other disciplines and the public.
- Supervise pharmacy teams under the broad delegation of the relevant pharmacy service manager, including direction of work priorities and practices; monitoring workflow; management of staff, professional supervision and development, performance appraisal and implementing programs and strategies to address identified training needs (including within an extended hours framework as appropriate).
- Lead, Initiate and participate in the development and monitoring of policies and standard operating procedures for clinical pharmacy services.
You will need:
- Extensive experience and advanced knowledge and skills in a range of activities relevant to the area of practice, including dispensing, patient counselling, clinical pharmacy, manufacturing, and medicines information, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Advanced knowledge of, and experience implementing, the standards, relevant legislation, codes of practice and workplace guidelines and frameworks relevant to the area of practice
- Experience in managing resource allocation against competing priorities, including detailed knowledge of pharmaceutical funding processes such as the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and the Tasmanian Medicines Formulary.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $123,717 to $138,296 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances:
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- Market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata

- Recognition at either Registrar or Consultant level with the Australian & New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) in a relevant discipline or relevant postgraduate qualification in pharmacy and/or management
