The Role:
The North West Regional Hospital i seeking a motivated Allied Health Assistant to join their Physiotherapy Department.
You will join an engaging and supportive team in a fast-paced clinical environment, with your primary workload being within the inpatient clinical areas (e.g. general medical and surgical wards), as well as some outpatient group classes.
The Allied Health and Hydrotherapy Assistant will:
- Assist the daily functioning of allied health professional services throughout the Agency.
- Undertake tasks, under the supervision and delegation of allied health professionals, including preparation of equipment for use in treatment and other related tasks.
- Assist physiotherapists with their day-to-day tasks and patient care.
- Encouraging and supporting patients to complete specific treatment plans prescribed by physiotherapists related to injury, illness or disability-related physical issues.
The Hospital:
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with easy access to coastal and wilderness areas, the North West Regional Hospital, Burnie is a 160 bed facility and is the principal referral centre for the North West Tasmanian community and provides general medicine, surgical (including orthopaedic), intensive care, cancer services, paediatric services, outpatient clinics and specialist services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excelling in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce and the Tasmanian community.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 28 hours per fortnight, from 21 July 2025 until 19 January 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Recognised qualifications in aquatic supervision and first responder emergency care
- Certificate IV in Health Service Assistance (Allied Health Assistance) or equivalent qualification
- Recognised qualifications in swimming teaching
- Recognised qualification in pool plant operations and maintenance. Tertiary student of a relevant and approved allied health course of study at a recognised tertiary institution
- Current Driver’s Licence
