Job description:

The Contractor Support Officer is responsible for identifying and addressing operational, administrative, financial, and IT challenges faced by contractors. The role provides tailored support to help contractors adapt their systems and processes to meet the standards and expectations of Homes Tasmania, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations, contractual obligations, and performance targets. As this is a new role, the incumbent will be responsible for setting up systems to facilitate this role.

$ 81,015.00 to $ 94,263.00 pro rata, per annum - plus 11.5 % Superannuation

Period of employment / Hours:

Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing approximately 15 June 2025 for a period of 2 years.

Duties:

Primary Purpose / Focus :

As a member of the Community Infrastructure Unit’s Property Maintenance team, the Contractor Support Officer plays a critical role in the implementation and management of a new maintenance model within Homes Tasmania’s property maintenance team.
This model involves engaging a panel of trade organisations and contractors that may have limited experience in working with government agencies or the specific requirements of social housing maintenance. The Contractor Support Officer is responsible for identifying and addressing operational, administrative, financial, and IT challenges faced by these contractors.
The role provides tailored support to help these contractors adapt their systems and processes to meet the standards and expectations of Homes Tasmania, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations, contractual obligations, and performance targets. Additionally, they will work closely with contractors to enhance their performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), improve service delivery, and drive continuous improvement.
As this is a new role, the incumbent will be responsible for setting up systems to facilitate this role.
This includes:
  • Contractor onboarding and support
  • Identifying and addressing operational issues
  • Problem-solving
  • Risk management and mitigation
  • Financial and administrative support
  • Process improvement and continuous improvement
  • IT system support and integration
  • Compliance and risk management
  • Stakeholder liaison and communication
  • Reporting and documentation

Skills and experience :

Selection criteria includes:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with trade contractors and organisations in a property maintenance setting, together with an understanding of the challenges faced by Tasmanian contractors in the current environment.
  • Extensive experience in setting up and maintaining efficient systems, processes and reporting templates.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the proven ability to plan, organise, set priorities, and work effectively and efficiently to achieve set objectives and meet deadlines, both individually and as part of a team.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Current Driver’s Licence
