Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

We have a large social work team with clinician in a range of Acute, Sub Acute and Primary Care settings.

The Role:

This role is within our transition Care Program, which provides short-term care for older people to help them recover after a hospital stay.

As a member of the Social Work Services team and Transition Care Program, support the delivery of services to clients/patients and their families.

Develop, provide, and evaluate Social Work Services, in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Practice Standards of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

 This role may be used for additional vacancies.

You will need 

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of Social Work theory as it applies to practice in an acute care hospital.
  2. Ability to practice Social Work in an acute care hospital or community-based setting, with the ability to provide psycho-social assessments, casework and group work appropriate to the needs of the client group.
  3. Ability to be self- motivated and self-directed and to optimise the use of resources.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

The following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  2. Full member of Australian Association of Social Workers.
  3. Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  4. Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a “certification of eligibility” letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW
