Job description:

The team is located at the Cambridge Production Centre working with a team of cooks and food service officers, preparing and cooking food for Royal Hobart Hospital patients, visitors and clients.

The Food Services Officers at the Cambridge Production Centre play a vital role in supporting the Department of Health Tasmania by ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals to healthcare facilities across the state. This role is essential for:

  • Maintaining patient health and recovery through proper nutrition.
  • Supporting clinical care teams by aligning food services with dietary requirements and medical needs.
  • Upholding food safety standards and compliance with health regulations.
  • Contributing to operational efficiency in a centralized production environment, ensuring timely and cost-effective meal distribution.

By ensuring that food services run smoothly and meet the highest standards, the officer directly contributes to the overall quality of healthcare delivery in Tasmania.

The Role:

Do you have a passion for working with food? Assist in maintaining a high standard of food preparation, production, service, meal distribution, ware-washing, and cleaning of the hospital service areas and in accordance with the relevant codes of practice.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in food preparation and production, cook-chill procedures and working within a large organisation.
  2. Understanding of general food handling and food hygiene regulations and proven ability to maintain all work areas and equipment in a hygienic state, including maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance in accordance with food services policies.
  3. Good communication skills with a proven ability to understand both written and verbal instructions and cooperate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.

Details of appointment:

Multiple permanent, full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $57,130 to $59,443 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
