The Team:
The Hobart Continuing Care Team delivers evidence-based community mental health care to adult consumers in the Hobart metro and southern surrounding areas. The team is part of the Continuing Care Service in Statewide and Mental Health Services, working closely with all associated mental health teams and the Royal Hobart Hospital. The team also works closely with families, Primary Health, Community Sector Organisations, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme. We are focussed on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, families and carers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
Is a clinical expert in the area of practice and acts as a clinical resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff in the management of consumers with complex mental health needs, working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care within the designated area of practice.
You will need:
- Extensive experience in and comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice in a variety of settings, with at least five years post-graduate clinical nursing experience directly applicable to Mental Health settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety Act and relevant statutory requirements and departmental procedures and policies.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and the proven ability to work constructively as part of a multidisciplinary team at both service and community levels.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for approximately twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
