Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Senior Program Officer to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

The Aged Care Reform Unit works at a statewide level to support the care and services delivered by the Tasmanian Health Service to older Tasmanians. The Unit works strategically in supporting operational areas to implement the Aged Care Reforms from the new Aged Care Act 2024.

The Role:

This role works with the Community Home Support Program service areas within the Tasmanian Health Service to meet contractual requirements from the Australian Government. 

You will need:

  1. Significant expertise and experience in policy and service development, data and financial analysis, research, evaluation and review.
  2. Proven project and/or change management skills including planning, managing risk, coordinating resources, interpersonal relations, time management and the ability to influence people.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of program management and understanding of the aged care programmes in these contexts.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to effectively contribute to a high performing team, including the ability to be adaptable and flexible to achieve results in an environment of change, ambiguity and pressure.
  5. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write complex documents within short timeframes under minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to effectively represent the organisation with the authority to successfully negotiate and conclude outcomes that meet the specific requirements and program and service delivery objectives.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from August 2025 for a period of approximately two (2) years.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $107,899 to $122,292 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
