Job description:

Within a primary health care model and in accordance with Hospitals North and Department of Health (DoH)policy and direction, legal requirements and professional competencies, provide a professional social work service to individuals, families, groups and communities with a focus on developing innovative and evidence informed services that are sustainable and reflective of community needs. The role may also involve providing a social work service to clients with a mental health issue or mental illness. As a senior member of the health care team provide support to management in developing, implementing and monitoring policies and practices that reflect the priorities and standards of the service. Promote community awareness in relation to building community resilience and work with other agencies, organisations and the wider community to develop an integrated approach to delivering support services.

The Team:

The THS Community Health Social Work (CHSW) North team delivers evidence based social work services to regional and community-based clients, who are affected by psychosocial health issues. We are based at Community Health Centres and District Hospitals across Northern Tasmania, with a focus on assisting individuals to build capacity and resilience to self-manage and self-regulate their own health issues, as well as support sustainable community driven groups, programs and partnerships. 

The Role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of evidence-based and trauma-informed Social Work services with community clients and groups at our Launceston based Community Health Centres. 

You will need:

Extensive experience in:

  • Psychosocial assessment and care planning
  • Therapeutic counselling and intervention
  • Groupwork and/or program development aligned with Primary Health principles

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, 30 April 2025 until 30 April 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a “certification of eligibility” letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW.

Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements

  • Full member of Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Current Driver’s Licence.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a practising social worker in a relevant field.
