The Team:
The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania’s largest hospital, with the RHH Pharmacy Department providing medication supply and clinical services to acute care facilities in Southern Tasmania. The Renal Unit (RHH) offers a range of haemodialysis, clinic-based services, and inpatient care for patients with kidney disease in the Southern region. The Renal multidisciplinary team is dedicated to clinically managing renal patients, with a strong focus on education for both patients and staff in this setting. All units and departments at the RHH strive to deliver excellence in healthcare, improving outcomes for our consumers, workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive pharmaceutical care as part of a multidisciplinary team in the area of outpatient renal medicine, including patient interview and counselling, and the provision of professional advice and consultancy services to other health professionals.
- Collaboratively coordinate renal outpatient bookings and clinic sessions and manage and prioritise clinic lists for renal patients requiring the input of an outpatient pharmacist service.
- Educate pharmacy staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students in the theory and practice of clinical pharmacy services and supervise other pharmacists and associated support staff in the specialist area.
- Take an active role in the maintenance and provision of drug information and drug utilisation evaluation within renal medicine and in education programs for other health professionals (including undergraduates).
- Keep abreast of emerging trends in drug therapy in renal medicine by self-education and participation in national networks and participating in research and clinical drug trials.
- Review existing policies and procedures and develop new procedures and methods related to renal medicine, including involvement in the development of electronic prescribing and decision support.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$110,425 to $126,703 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

- Hold, or actively working towards, post-graduate qualifications
- Current Driver’s Licence
